The Oak and Barrel Distillery and offices originally started off as a basic office which is featured in my portoflio as just 'Warehouse'. Our mission was to re-design the warehouse to be capable of being an alcohol distillery with office spaces, a bar with a commercial kitchen and event space all as one company.

We needed to focus on:

  • The workers well being in the office space

  • WHS in the distillery and bar/kitchen

  • Traffic flow for the public visitors in the event space

  • Disability access /PWD bathroom

  • Solar gain with natural light as well as venitilation

  • Breakout spaces for the workers

  • Native landscaping

  • Vehical parking and access

How I did this:

By extending the second storey and utilising the upper level entirely for the offices, there are 8 cubicals as well as a presentation room, 2 conference rooms, storage room and 3 'Zen pods' (sound proof privacy pods). This allows for ample work space and working options.

On the ground level of the main building there is a reception area, lift, toilets, retail space and distillery with a storage room and its own truck access.

Moving onto the extension of the ground level I have a public bar, commercial kitchen with its own access allway as well as an event space that has indoor and outdoor dining options.

For the breakout space I have allowed for a section of the grounds to be kept purely grassed for outdoor activities, lunch space, excercise space and just a scenic view to the man made pond.
