The Mountain View home was designed to be an investment property, an AirBNB, or a forever home. 

The client I decided to work off of was a middle aged couple who are big entertainers, they also love to travel so the home needed to suit living day to day as well as renting out for weekend stays. 

The existing home they bought was extremely under utilised, the lower level was filled in with earth, the living space was very small, the kitchen was closed off and the laundry and study were these large unintersting spaces.

To recify this I had the lower level excavated and lined to be used for storage, laundry and a studio space accessable via external side stairs. the upper level gained a front and back deck to extened upon the living spaces as well as provide shade from the northern sun in the summer. The floor plan was re-arranged to maximise space and comfort. I also added an external carport with storage as well as a large pool with wrap around deck. 

The overall theme the client wanted was mid-century modern, so keeping elements like horizontal lines in the buildings design, stepping stones, warm wood materials, brown leathers and desert themed landscaping ties that feel in.
